Born in Brooklyn, New York, to a Sicilian mother and an Italian-American father, Aida Turturro earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Although she has been a formidable presence in East Coast independent films for many years, it is her portrayal of Janice Soprano, Tony’s little sister, on The Sopranos that finally helped Aida make her mark. Equal parts flaky and fearsome, Aida’s character is lusty and busty and has a penchant for landing in the sack with the show’s most psychotic villains, which makes for kinky foreplay that is best not emulated by the home audience.
